History Channel Civil War A Nation Divided

History Channel: Civil War brings you into America’s bloodiest war. Carnage and chaos are everywhere, and withering fire cuts down your best regiments. The screams of the wounded are deafening, but the destiny of a country is in your hands. Rally the troops and organize a counterattack — Your strategic decision and talent as a commander will decide if the Union is preserved or if Dixie wins its independence.

the history channel helped throw this one together.its accurate historicly.it gives the story in detail before each battle.each battle is a real battle.the objectives are real things the soldiers did to turn the tide of the battle in thier favor etc.if your kids like shooting stuff up get them this game.its very educational but at the same time quite fun.

the guns are also the same as back in the day also.so be ready to reload A LOT and have to use tools and what not to set your gun up to fire again.some guns have to be partialy taken apart also.you have your standard explosive/shotgun/rifle/sniper/melee set up with most shoot em up games.but these ones are quite slow.but if it helps the others you are battling have slow old weopons as well.

i really enjoyed playing this game.my only real beef is this.i checked on all of americas 11 wars and only 3 of them have a video game for them unless you are on pc.ww2,viet nam and the civil war werent the only wars.there are 8 more.i say in the interest of memorial day, education and money someone should get off thier butt and get started on this already!

I ordered the PS2 version but received the Xbox version. Can’t find anyplace online to return it and that’s $60 thrown away. Won’t order games at Christmas time anymore online from this place.

1 Star Avoid This Game!
This is one of the most worthless games I have had the mischance to purchase. The graphics are awful, the story line subpar, the game play just downright sucks. You cannot avoid enemy fire no matter how you try. You can stand 2 feet in front of a bad guy and fire six rounds from your revolver at point blank range and miss. Enemies appear out of thin air in areas that you just cleared. The weapons sites are useless, it’s better to aim from the hip. Ducking behind objects seems to draw fire more than standing in the middle of an open field. Trench fighting is nuts, the enemy storms over the top of your trench, from side passages and out of bunkers while you are confined to moving forward or back the way you came. Enemy sharp shooters can’t miss while you can’t hit the back side of a barn door with a hand full of chicken feed. And the hidden missions/objects…. OMG…. To activate an object or pickup an item requires that you stand in the exact correct spot at the exact correct angle and pray that the enemy fires at something else while you scream at the screen in the attempt to get your guy to pick up or activate the item. Only the most hardened history nuts will gain any pleasure from this game. Don’t make the mistake I did, rent it don’t buy it.

4 Stars Not as bad as everyone is making it out to be
First off Kudos to the History Channel for making a game that was different and enlightining, I was sick of playing the same old WWII games. Going into the game I wasn’t expecting much given all the negative reviews that have been posted, however since this is pretty much the only Civil War game on the market I decided to give it a shot.

Now let be realistic, is the game as fast paced as lets just say Call of Duty 4? No but then again we can’t compare this game to ANY other FPS games out there, why? Because this game is the only FPS set in the 1860’s where the method of warfare was far different than what we know today or even in WWII.

Each mission is nicely introduced with a brief History lesson which leads you into what you have to do. I would have loved to be behind that Stone Wall in Gettysburg making the last stand and beating back the Confedrates, but the point of the whole game to let you know that there was more to the story than just the major conflicts of every battle. After the mission there is an outro on the outcome of the battle.

As for the fighting itself yes I did notice while I was ducked behind a wagon or building that I was still getting hit, but then I noticed it was because the enemy was trying to flank me and I had guys on my sides shooting at me.

It was nice to finally have different authentic weapons from the era

to see how they worked, I was growing tired of MP40’s

The graphics were pretty good and not at all bad for what it was

My only knock on this game was that the mission’s were far too short, and the sayings of your comardes were far too repitative.

If you are looking for something different from your tradtional FPS and get a good history lesson while you do it than I strongly recommend this.

5 Stars BEST GAME EVER MADE

Wheelman

Combining spectacular Hollywood-style stunts with a gripping storyline, Wheelman provides an adrenaline-fueled, cinematic thrill ride guaranteed to leave you breathless. Vin Diesel stars as an undercover agent and highly skilled driver who must infiltrate the Barcelona underworld to gather intelligence surrounding a covert heist. Posing as a driver-for-hire, he ends up caught in a crossfire of corruption and chaos while trying to stay one step ahead of local law enforcement and rival gangs.

A Game That Plays Like a Movie
Video games based on movies are not rare, but what is rare is a video game developed to look and play like a movie, and that is exactly what Wheelman is. Featuring the image and voice of action star Vin Diesel as undercover agent and driver for hire Milo Burik, in an entirely digital performance, Wheelman was originally planned as a launching pad for a new movie franchise of the same name. Until then, Wheelman the video game will stand as a brash celebration of car chases and on-screen collisions that do not need a movie to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Open World Gameplay and Wheelman Moves
First and foremost Wheelman is a driving game, but in its open world gameplay universe players can go anywhere, whether behind the wheel or on foot. As with other open world games, action is split between mission play, event and freeplay, with the breakdown working out to about 80% of it taking place behind the wheel or on motorcycles, to 20% while on foot. Also, Wheelman features fully destructible environments, which allows players take advantage of special in-game features, known as ‘Wheelman Moves.’ Designed to illustrate the game’s philosophy which considers vehicles as the ultimate weapons, these features include the Vehicle Melee mode, which allows for quick and devastating vehicle sideswiping attacks; Airjacking, which allows you to jump from car to car while attacking without having to stop your vehicle as in other open world games; and the Cyclone and Aimed Shot with which players can perform devastating feats of ballistic accuracy while on the move.

Key Game Features:

  • Vin Diesel Is The Wheelman – Action film megastar Vin Diesel and his Tigon Studios are again blurring the lines between entertainment mediums, this time collaborating with Midway in the design and production of Wheelman to ensure an edge-of-your-seat gaming experience. Diesel’s voice and likeness will appear as the game’s main character, expert Wheelman Milo Burik.
  • The Ultimate Thrill Ride – Designed to play like a Hollywood blockbuster, Wheelman delivers all the rubber-burning, asphalt-churning excitement of the most jaw-dropping high-speed car chases.
  • Open World Driving – Go where you want, do what you want, however you want. Choose your own route through the living, breathing city of Barcelona as you complete more than 30 missions and 100 side-missions, or simply drive around and take in the breathtaking Spanish architecture as you seek out all the game’s hidden cinematic jumps and golden lion statues.
  • Revolutionary Car Combat – Sideswipe pursuing enemies with Wheelman’s groundbreaking Vehicle Melee car combat. Execute devastating “slam-n-ram” maneuvers in all directions with a simple flick of the joystick. But be careful, because your enemies can do the same. Once you experience Wheelman’s Vehicle Melee, you’ll never want to play another driving game without it.
  • Maximum Mobility – Escape down a narrow alleyway on the back of a tricked-out motorcycle. Drive through an office building to make your getaway. Hop behind the wheel of exclusively licensed vehicles like the Pontiac G8 and Saturn Astra and make your escape in style. Drive it. Trash it. Crash it. You’re the Wheelman, it’s all up to you.
  • Living, Breathing Barcelona – Set in the exotic location of Barcelona, Spain. This classic European city is densely populated with traffic and pedestrians that react intelligently to your actions as you roam around realistic environments filled with massively destructible objects.
  • Cinematic Signature Stunts – Survive death-defying feats and perform pulse-pounding moves to trigger extreme over-the-top Hollywood-style mobile attack maneuvers including
    • Aimed Shot – Drive and shoot at the same time while the rest of the world slows to an easy-to-target blur.
    • The Air Jack – Leap from moving car to moving car to take control of a brand new ride.
    • The 360° Cyclone Spin: Spin around 180° to take out anyone that’s behind you, and then spin back 180° again to resume your route.
  • Hit the Pavement – Even the best Wheelman sometimes needs to get out of the vehicle. Take to the Barcelona streets for on-foot action

4 Stars too human
I don’t know much about this game. My son doesn’t talk about it at all. He usually lets me know if he likes the games.

5 Stars Most underrated game of 2008
Addicting, fun gameplay with an interesting story – what is there not to like?

i have been playing this game for 3 days straight, and i gotta say, for 18 bucks this game is a steal. if you like hack’n slash games, or RPGs of any kind, buy this now. the controls can sometimes be a bit of a hassle, but in the end the few flaws can be easily overlooked as you enjoy pounding thousands of future-goblin things into dust.

5 Stars Sweet Game
This is one of the best games of the year for 2008 i have over 400hrs logged on it and its just awesome graphics and game play are great only bad thing i can say is WE HAVE NO DLC that was promised and its too short.

4 Stars Too human
Its a fun and original game the only thing i found annoing was that the levels are big and long and there tends to be a lot of enemies in one place.

4 Stars Great RPG
Very tactical, interesting game at sight and convinces in history, does not have many types of enemies, but it is another great game of RPG

3 Stars The Dynasty of the Gundam
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2EWDMKET96DJ For several years I have bought, owned, played and loved the Dynasty Warriors franchise. I love it’s simplistic jump into the madness style of gaming, which can understandably get boring to some. Taking out legions of enemies with a massive sword never gets tiring. On the other hand I have also been a fan of Anime for years and the various Gundam Saga’s are at the very top of my favorite’s list. So this game should generally be a wet dream for me as it is a mix of two, shouldn’t it?!?

Sadly it is not. But don’t get me wrong this game is fun, it has the standard Dynasty Warriors style where you take on armies of enemy Gundam’s all on your own with minimal help from NPC (non player characters) allies. The greatest and most thankful change is this game has a grand total of 62 playable Gundam’s compared to the first games 19 playable Gundam’s. Each Gundam has different attributes and weapons meaning a different fighting experience 62 times.

The all new Mission Mode has you searching for various items to upgrade your Gundam’s or helping other Gundam’s out to improve your relationship in game, or destroy them in order to create new rivalries. The Official Mode is just like in Dynasty Warriors: Gundam meaning it follows an engaging story line that tosses you into the front lines of galactic war fare. There is a Versus Mode but I haven’t used it much seems pretty standard friend vs friends stuff. There is also a gallery with ALOT of information and amazing imagery for the games Gundam’s.

The stages take place within the Universal Century timeline, covering the stories of Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam, Gundam ZZ and Char’s Counterattack although they primarily follow an all original plot. Battles take place on various different planets and in space. Also the voice acting is top notch with some very good rendition’s of the original characters from the Anime’s.

All that said the game got boring very quickly. For a few hours I thought I was in heaven but then I realized the AI for the enemies is just weak. There is no real challenge here, even the bosses are push overs on the highest difficulty. Most of the enemies (and their are hundreds on screen at once) just stand around while a select few attack, this is rather boring, I would rather they all came at me furiously wanting to destroy me. This alone kills the experience and is honestly a real shame cause this game could have been amazing had the AI been more responsive.

The controls are kind of weak as well, they are very simplistic and easy to use it just seem’s way to easy even for a Dynasty Warriors game. Hit one button once and you can take out anywhere from fifty to one hundred enemies with one attack.. Just a bit over kill in my opinion. Also I did notice that some of the larger (and yes their are some massive) Gundam’s are far less detailed then their smaller counterparts.

All in all a great game, if you rent it. Fan’s of Gundam will be impressed with the extremely varied selection of Gundam’s and the close ties to the stories of the original animes. Dynasty Warrior fans however stick to the original series, it has far better AI compared to this game. Overall I was truly hoping this would be THE Gundam game to own as it’s various cinematic videos before launch made it seem. However with this style of game the AI is EVERYTHING and the lack there of completely destroys the atmosphere. Truly a shame and hopefully the programmers will fix this massive issue if we get a third installment, otherwise this series has official been a failure of epic proportions.

With my review I include a video that showcases some in-game fighting and shows you just how lax the AI truly is. I will also upload a few Screenshots taken from around the web. I truly hope that my review helped you in your decision on whether or not this game is worth the full price. If so please click ‘yes’ below and thank you for reading. 3 Stars A game for GUNDAM fans, not much else
Mission objective: Destroy your enemy.

All 100,000 of them.

In a Nutshell, This is a solid GUNDAM game, Mission mode is addicting.

take your favorite gundam (Like wing zero), MAX it, play online with other suits.

Seek and Destroy.

Over and out.

3 Stars Enjoyable. But room for improvement.
Now I have played other Koei games in the past and wasnt really pleased with it all. I’m pretty sure it was the implement of a robot fantasy I gew up with as a kid. Now with as little spin as possible ere’ we go.

Positives:

Customizable skills for each pilot. You do have to work for them by using different gundams to obtain them.

Collectible upgrades for your gundams. You obtain them through killing enemy robot hoards or through killing characters.

Countless missions and Gundams to unlock as well as more charcters.

Nice blend of several stories through out the franchises series.

Negatives:

Yes the game play will be repetative. Certian missions types may vary slightly, but all are done by the same function.

Missing some key characters from certian series. (Not to sure if this is correct since I know I havent unlocked everything.)
