User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star the actions on carrier commands for aircraft are screwed up and balleship cannot be sunk .
The commands to the carrier aircraft do not do as tutorial explain. The planes only fly aruond in circles. With only your hands on control of the aircraft can the battleship be attacked. Plus no heavy damage is ever done to the battleship.

3 Stars Good idea, not well implemented
I’m into turn-based strategy games like Civilization, Axis & Allies, and Chess. Real time strategy games like Warcraft tend to overwhelm me with micromanagement. Battlestations Midway is real time strategy, but most of the game involves the management of fairly slow naval units, so I thought I could handle it.

Everything was going fine for the first few hours. Compelling story, nice graphics, I felt like I was learning quite a bit about the Japanese and US Pacific Fleets in 1942, until I hit a mission in which I took control of the USS Lexington, an aircraft carrier. Turns out that if you give multiple aircraft squadrons orders to land at the same time, none of them land, they just circle the carrier. By the time I figured out how to remedy the situation, the Lexington was on her way to the murky depths. Not fun.

5 Stars This game is AWESOME!
I bought this game for cheap on eBay…and wasn’t expecting much. It looked like a 90’s computer game, but I decided to give it a chance since was for the XBOX 360. I got so much more than I bargained for! This game is extremely realistic – all the way down to controlling how the crew attends to damage control. I’m very impressed with the realism and how fun it is to control the navy ships.

4 Stars Really enjoy it – definitely recommend it
This is a really fun game; challenging but not too difficult to learn. I would definitely recommend it.

5 Stars I can’t stop playing this game.
Don’t confuse these critiques with criticisms. This is one of the best games I have played in years. While the graphics are not on par with some of the better FPS games this is still a solid game. The story line is a little lame but the game play is great once you master the tactics. I love the ship and fleet actions. You can play the same mission 100 times and you are never guaranteed the same outcome. Your actions and tactics are never the same therefore the outcome of the mission is never the same. The golden BB to your engine at the wrong time will make you crazy. The airplane and sub missions can be difficult as the same control often is used for more than one action. This is especially true during combat when you are trying to fire the guns and steer. The sub missions are made overly hard by the difficult to read dive plane indicator. Defending against air attack is a realistic nightmare. WOW! It’s like watching old WWII footage. Wave after wave of enemy aircraft stacked up for attack on your ships. Your ship AAA and AA are surprisingly realistic. Trying to hit a small fast moving object at long range with a 2 inch bullet or explosive shell is not easy. Overall the graphics are really good. The explosions and crisp images are a pleasure. The sound is clear and life like. The action is fun and intense.

Just try to engage enemy capital ships while fending off those pesky fast tin cans and their swarms of torpedoes. You MUST manage the Damage Control Parties (DCP) or you will not last long. (Fire aboard a ship which carries high explosives is not a good thing…) Swapping broadsides with enemy Battleships is literally a blast. Holy Molly! Watch what happens to a Destroyer when you have it bracketed with 12 (16 inch) guns. You will feel sorry for the enemy when it happens and desperate to get the hell away when you are on the receiving end. The sight of an enemy ship slipping under the water after an engagement is also realistic. Thank goodness the designers decided not to have sailors abandoning ship and adrift at the mercy of the ocean.

I’ve gone on enough. Buy this game and you won’t be sorry. Suitable for all ages.

4 Stars Great game
I wish it was longer. I know its the longest to date but the game was so good that i couldnt put the controller down.

5 Stars NFS-Carbon review
I have played some of the older games from past generations which were good. This one is entertaining, Im not really into arcade racers more of the sims (waiting for Forza 2)but the whole reason I got this game is because my car is in this video game. Other than that it’s pretty fun.

5 Stars Need for speed Carbon Collectors Edition
It is a great game and we got wonderful fast delivery. No problems with the game and package was perfect. Thank you.

4 Stars Live Actors in CG environment for story
NFS Carbon is another fun and exciting game by EA. It continues where NFS Most Wanted left off. NFS Carbon is all about turf wars. IT has the best graphics. The graphcs are better then all of the other NFS games. You can access “XBOX LIVE MARKET PLACE” where you can buy parts or cars. not to mention the Collector’s eddition comes with all the “goodies” you are going to need for online play. So if you are a fan of NFS series you will surely find this game worth playing.

1 Star The biggest Need for Speed Let Down
I finished the game a mere 8 hours after purchasing it. May be more fun online but the storyline part of the game is way to short. And it seems as the higher you get the worse your car’s handling becomes. Blacklist was ten times better and Underground 2 was 5 times better. There are a decent amount of cars and customization but the gameplay is really lost in this one. The idea for Carbon Canyon was good but I find that there are certain aspects of the canyon that are just stupid. If you skip a race and come back to it later they still have the same car and if you are driving a Lamborghini you can not overtake them. And they never crash off the cliff and you cannot make them crash. When playing in co op mode half the time in the upper levels my team-mates cost me races by stopping in front of me or by taking short cuts that get me hit by other cars or the short cut slows me down. The game is only 10% of what it should be.

5 Stars good game
as always tetris is fun, but this one doesn’t seem to have all the same versions as previous games. i know it is supposed to be “evolution” but they really didn’t do anything different other than the backgrounds and such.

Saints Row

Saints’ Row is one of the worst neighborhoods in the city of Stilwater – it’s also where you grew up. You’re tired of being on the bottom of the food chain, so you’ve decided to make your play. Start out as a member of the 3rd Street Saints, a local gang & work your way up to being king of Saints’ Row. Then do what it takes to get the money and build the respect and power you need to muscle your way to the top of Stilwater’s gangs. Form gangs, recruit gang members, and compete for cash and respect in a variety of modes including co-op

1 Star Poor excuse of a GTA ripoff
I love sandbox games but when they have graphics and controls as bad as this game, it makes me wonder why I play games at all.

5 Stars For the hubby
He played this over his Aunts house and liked it. He watched the trailer for Saints Row 2 and decided he wants to play both and likes them better than the newer Grand Theft Auto games.

4 Stars Great game
I’m more of a GTA IV fan, but Saints Row is a fun game to me as well. It’s a pretty fun game, and since it’s cheaper these days, it’s a great deal. I sort of miss the cartoony/arcadish feel of the older GTA games, and this game reminds me of that sort of feel. The only let down is there’s only 4 wheel vehicles, and the vehicles look a bit too unrealistic for what I’m used to, but that’s ok. That doesn’t take away too much of the fun.

5 Stars Take GTA, and make it fun, that’s this game.
Okay, right off, I want this clear: I don’t think the GTA series is bad. It’s decent. But GTA has always hovered over the line of “realism” (In the modern video game sense that dirty browns and grays are real), and “fun” (In the, let’s just randomly shoot at people because it’s a sandbox and I want to build a really cool castle, way). If you remove almost all of the realism part (the only way it stays “real” is it’s on Earth. Probably), that’s this game. If you hit a person with your car at faster than five miles an hour, rather than just getting knocked down, they turn in to a ragdoll and fly into the air. If you die or go to jail (both are very difficult to have happen if you play the side-missions that give you obscenely fun bonuses), you get to keep your weapons. The controls are almost perfect (I like the one’s in the second game more), and the game lasts for an extremely long time (I racked up 69 hours of gameplay before the second game came out and I moved on to that) without getting old. The only bad thing about this game is that there are no boats/planes/helicopters/motorcycles. But those are all in Saint’s Row 2.

4 Stars xbox 360 game
I got the game for my grand son and he is enjoying it. The game was shipped fast. I was glad to find it at such a low price. Thank you.

Halo 2

Halo 2

Halo 2 continues the story of Master Chief, the heroic super-soldier who defied the invading alien Covenant and survived. The Covenant leaders within Halo are angry at this unheard of event. To save face, they launch an invasion of our planet. Earth’s defenses are breached, and we’re all in danger — unless Master Chief can lead a small military squad to victory against Covenant forces, in all-out guerilla warfare!

3 Stars good purchase
This one of the best deals i have found on a game by far. Halo 2 is a game where the multiplayer is not that interesting but the in depth story line is all there this game should be played for the story line if nothing else.

5 Stars Grandson loves Halo 2
I have no idea how to play this game, but my grandson does and he loves it.

5 Stars Good Game, But Could Be Better
Halo 2 is a good game, but not perfect. The campaign is fun, a little short, but fun. The levels are great on any difficulty, and I love the Elite missions. They are fun and challenging, a great twist to the game. The only two things I wished that did not happen in the game was the short storyline, and the ending. They leave you hanging, waiting for the third Halo. Campaign is fun, but it is not a fun game unless it has a good multiplayer. The multiplayer maps are great, but there are not enough of them. Bungie could have waited a while to bring out the game to make more multiplayer maps. Overall a good game.

Campaign- 4 stars

Multiplayer- 4 stars

Fun- 5 stars

4 Stars Not as good as the first, but still an excellent follow-up
After the incredible installment of Halo it seemed like every gamer around simply couldn’t wait to play the follow up! Well here it is, finally in my hands! I’m happy to report that overall this is a very solid follow-up to the first installment. There are a couple minor things that I didn’t like, but there are a lot of things they added into the game that are just awesome.

After the first game I was kind of wondering how they would follow it up since the Halo facility blew up and the Master Chief with Cortana were the only two sentient beings left alive. Well Halo 2 brings us deeper into the lore of the rings and their Forerunner builders. Apparently there is definitely more than one ring, or else this game wouldn’t have made as much sense without a Halo facility. I really don’t want to give away any of the story line because it’s a really intriguing story so far. To be honest the story is really what held this game together for me, but let’s just say that they end up coming upon another Halo ring and there is already a major Covenant armada on site. The best chance for survival is to get onto Halo and fight from there because we all know the Covenant will not destroy the ring. The best part of the story is that the covenant between the species that make up the Covenant doesn’t seem to be nearly as strong as we all assumed. In order to take us down that path we get to play as a Covenant elite named the Arbiter. This is one of the better changes they made to this game! It was a lot of fun to play on this side of war and see things from their perspective.

That’s all I’ll get into for the story. Honestly the game play and mission details are fairly rehashed from the first Halo. This is sort of unfortunate, but somewhat expected because what’s Halo without Halo? But running missions through the Library to find the Index again seemed tedious and uncreative, although they managed to spice them up a little by throwing in the new Brute character named Tartarus (and the brutes in general). The thing that really saved these repetitive elements was the backdrop story of the Covenant. Also they threw in new lush atmospheres found on Halo. Halo is a big place and it stands to reason that not every place is going to look the same, so it was nice to see them try and capitalize on newer elements. This gives us some familiar maps and ground as well as giving us whole new terrains to explore. One of my favorite is that at one point we end up on Earth and go through a whole urban warfare sequence. That was probably one of my favorite parts of the game.

Aside from the repeated levels the only other major problem I had with this game was the HUD. If you read my review for the first game you would remember that I mentioned that the view was great because it gave you sort of a mock peripheral vision. In this game it feels like you’re looking through a very confined screen, which makes it a little more difficult to play in co-op mode. This is unfortunate because it feels like they removed something that I thought was an improvement to a First Person Shooter game, maybe they felt it was an error? Of course I think this was more than made up for by being able to dual wield weapons and being able to use the Covenant energy swords. Though they got rid of the MA5B standard issue assault rifle from the original game and that made me sort of sad. Oh well, I can now wield two Needlers!

Overall I thought this was a very fun game. I even enjoyed going through the Library again, so while some may find that “uncreative”, which it is, I still enjoyed it. The Flood takes a bit of a back seat in this game and show up more as an annoyance until a big revelation at the end. Story wise this game is much bigger and more ambitious. I think if you were into Halo for the unique world and story you will also like Halo 2 just as much. So be prepared for a wild ride to save the universe and see how precarious the Covenant’s species allegiance just might be.

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5

3 Stars just average
played the first halo. it had some great moments. mind you, it wasn’t perfect. game was too dark, some maps were reused, & too much backtracking. i dont understand why bungie couldn’t have included a map so i’d know where i was going. also, the library chapter was plain repetitive tedium. halo 2 was basically the same, probably even worse. i mean, playing as the arbiter sucked. basically too much hype. but the multiplayer is where halo shines. solo campaigns are just ok.
