5 Stars terrific game
We rented this game for my son over a year ago. He absolutely loves it. He was 5 1/2 at the time. We just bought it for him for the holidays and it has provided tons of entertainment. Not educational or anything, but a good racing game that you don’t have to worry about inappropriate language.

5 Stars Fun for all ages!
Got this game a few days ago and my boys – 6 years old, and 36 years old (that would be my hubby hehe) LOVE it. The graphics are pretty amazing and the music is really good. Several songs from GH so my 6 year old sings along to half of them and plays until his little hands are numb. GREAT game and worth every $$!

1 Star Boring
I bought this game with high hopes that it would provide a lot of fun for the family. However, after a small amount of fun initially, we quickly grew tired of it.

One caveaut – we don’t typically like racing games anyway. So maybe if you are a fan of racing games, this will have more appeal to you.

With that said, we found it to not really make us as interactive with each other during the race as we had hoped, and we found it difficult to feel in control while we were racing. Those combined gave it a very short lifespan with our family.

5 Stars Tragically Under-hyped
I made a thread devoted to this game a while back wondering if anyone actually bought this game, considering it got such high reviews. No one had, mainly since it was overshadowed by so many other big-name titles last year. I picked it up as part of a recent clearance sale and here are my impressions.

This game is excellent. It is simply tragic that it didn’t get better sales. Building your ATVs from the ground up is really cool, and I can only imagine how much better it would be if I actually knew anything about ATV parts. Unlocking new parts and tweaking old builds to accentuate certain aspects is very addicting. I’ve currently got 3 different ATVs ready to go: one all-around ATV for races, one trick-heavy ATV for freestyle events, and one that’s built for handling and speed for sprint events.

The gameplay is a ton of fun, and has an adrenaline-based boost meter that you fill by performing tricks, in an extremely similar fashion to the SSX series. Pure takes that risk/reward balance a bit further though, only allowing you to access those tougher and more rewarding tricks once your adrenaline meter fills to certain levels. Boost too much, and you can’t refill your meter as fast. Don’t boost enough, and you’ll fall too far behind to catch up. It’s a very interesting dynamic.

This game is the perfect balance of arcade and simulation to me. I simply love it.

If you like racing games at all, you should pick this up, regardless of the price. It’s more than worth it.

4 Stars Fun Racing Game
This is a really fun racing game, with a variety of different features that will attract any sort of gamer. Customizable rides, great music, fantastic graphics, and easy to understand controls.

There are a few things that could be fixed, such as small glitches in the framerate, but that is acceptable. If you are into racing games, then this is a must buy. If not, you can wait for this product to go on sale.

5 Stars Awesome ATV action.
If you are a fan of racing games then you will love Pure. This game was very fun and the tracks were awesome. Even the tricking was cool or Pure for that matter.

4 Stars Great game
I wish it was longer. I know its the longest to date but the game was so good that i couldnt put the controller down.

5 Stars NFS-Carbon review
I have played some of the older games from past generations which were good. This one is entertaining, Im not really into arcade racers more of the sims (waiting for Forza 2)but the whole reason I got this game is because my car is in this video game. Other than that it’s pretty fun.

5 Stars Need for speed Carbon Collectors Edition
It is a great game and we got wonderful fast delivery. No problems with the game and package was perfect. Thank you.

4 Stars Live Actors in CG environment for story
NFS Carbon is another fun and exciting game by EA. It continues where NFS Most Wanted left off. NFS Carbon is all about turf wars. IT has the best graphics. The graphcs are better then all of the other NFS games. You can access “XBOX LIVE MARKET PLACE” where you can buy parts or cars. not to mention the Collector’s eddition comes with all the “goodies” you are going to need for online play. So if you are a fan of NFS series you will surely find this game worth playing.

1 Star The biggest Need for Speed Let Down
I finished the game a mere 8 hours after purchasing it. May be more fun online but the storyline part of the game is way to short. And it seems as the higher you get the worse your car’s handling becomes. Blacklist was ten times better and Underground 2 was 5 times better. There are a decent amount of cars and customization but the gameplay is really lost in this one. The idea for Carbon Canyon was good but I find that there are certain aspects of the canyon that are just stupid. If you skip a race and come back to it later they still have the same car and if you are driving a Lamborghini you can not overtake them. And they never crash off the cliff and you cannot make them crash. When playing in co op mode half the time in the upper levels my team-mates cost me races by stopping in front of me or by taking short cuts that get me hit by other cars or the short cut slows me down. The game is only 10% of what it should be.

Wheelman

October 15th, 2009 Xbox Reviews No comments

Wheelman

Combining spectacular Hollywood-style stunts with a gripping storyline, Wheelman provides an adrenaline-fueled, cinematic thrill ride guaranteed to leave you breathless. Vin Diesel stars as an undercover agent and highly skilled driver who must infiltrate the Barcelona underworld to gather intelligence surrounding a covert heist. Posing as a driver-for-hire, he ends up caught in a crossfire of corruption and chaos while trying to stay one step ahead of local law enforcement and rival gangs.

A Game That Plays Like a Movie
Video games based on movies are not rare, but what is rare is a video game developed to look and play like a movie, and that is exactly what Wheelman is. Featuring the image and voice of action star Vin Diesel as undercover agent and driver for hire Milo Burik, in an entirely digital performance, Wheelman was originally planned as a launching pad for a new movie franchise of the same name. Until then, Wheelman the video game will stand as a brash celebration of car chases and on-screen collisions that do not need a movie to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Open World Gameplay and Wheelman Moves
First and foremost Wheelman is a driving game, but in its open world gameplay universe players can go anywhere, whether behind the wheel or on foot. As with other open world games, action is split between mission play, event and freeplay, with the breakdown working out to about 80% of it taking place behind the wheel or on motorcycles, to 20% while on foot. Also, Wheelman features fully destructible environments, which allows players take advantage of special in-game features, known as ‘Wheelman Moves.’ Designed to illustrate the game’s philosophy which considers vehicles as the ultimate weapons, these features include the Vehicle Melee mode, which allows for quick and devastating vehicle sideswiping attacks; Airjacking, which allows you to jump from car to car while attacking without having to stop your vehicle as in other open world games; and the Cyclone and Aimed Shot with which players can perform devastating feats of ballistic accuracy while on the move.

Key Game Features:

  • Vin Diesel Is The Wheelman – Action film megastar Vin Diesel and his Tigon Studios are again blurring the lines between entertainment mediums, this time collaborating with Midway in the design and production of Wheelman to ensure an edge-of-your-seat gaming experience. Diesel’s voice and likeness will appear as the game’s main character, expert Wheelman Milo Burik.
  • The Ultimate Thrill Ride – Designed to play like a Hollywood blockbuster, Wheelman delivers all the rubber-burning, asphalt-churning excitement of the most jaw-dropping high-speed car chases.
  • Open World Driving – Go where you want, do what you want, however you want. Choose your own route through the living, breathing city of Barcelona as you complete more than 30 missions and 100 side-missions, or simply drive around and take in the breathtaking Spanish architecture as you seek out all the game’s hidden cinematic jumps and golden lion statues.
  • Revolutionary Car Combat – Sideswipe pursuing enemies with Wheelman’s groundbreaking Vehicle Melee car combat. Execute devastating “slam-n-ram” maneuvers in all directions with a simple flick of the joystick. But be careful, because your enemies can do the same. Once you experience Wheelman’s Vehicle Melee, you’ll never want to play another driving game without it.
  • Maximum Mobility – Escape down a narrow alleyway on the back of a tricked-out motorcycle. Drive through an office building to make your getaway. Hop behind the wheel of exclusively licensed vehicles like the Pontiac G8 and Saturn Astra and make your escape in style. Drive it. Trash it. Crash it. You’re the Wheelman, it’s all up to you.
  • Living, Breathing Barcelona – Set in the exotic location of Barcelona, Spain. This classic European city is densely populated with traffic and pedestrians that react intelligently to your actions as you roam around realistic environments filled with massively destructible objects.
  • Cinematic Signature Stunts – Survive death-defying feats and perform pulse-pounding moves to trigger extreme over-the-top Hollywood-style mobile attack maneuvers including
    • Aimed Shot – Drive and shoot at the same time while the rest of the world slows to an easy-to-target blur.
    • The Air Jack – Leap from moving car to moving car to take control of a brand new ride.
    • The 360° Cyclone Spin: Spin around 180° to take out anyone that’s behind you, and then spin back 180° again to resume your route.
  • Hit the Pavement – Even the best Wheelman sometimes needs to get out of the vehicle. Take to the Barcelona streets for on-foot action
